Yes, you could do that and it would give you a graphic representation of
where your focus was set to, however, it won't show you your depth of
field (area of critical focus).

What I think were looking for would be TWO circles. One representing the
"near" critical focus and one representing the "far" critical focus. This,
of course, would change if you changed your F-stop and focal lenght and
that should be reflected in the layout display instantly. That would be
handy and relativly simple to implement.

Depth of field can be calculated fairly simply (simple for those people
who know how to use that math stuff, it involves numbers...I think) using a
mathimatical formula.
